Who We Are
We’re Stone Workx LLC, a family-owned stone fabricator right here in Montgomery, Indiana. If you’re looking for the corporate background story with decades of history, we can’t give you that.
What we can tell you is this: we grew up in a community where quality work matters, where your word is your bond, and where cutting corners isn’t even considered an option.
Our roots run deep in Amish tradition. That means we were raised with certain expectations about craftsmanship—if you’re going to do something, do it right. If you promise something, follow through. If someone trusts you with their home, honor that trust. These aren’t marketing slogans for us. They’re just how we were taught to operate.
Here’s the thing though: we also believe in using the best tools available. Some people think traditional craftsmanship and modern technology are opposites. We think they’re perfect partners. Our shop has CNC cutting equipment that can make cuts we’d never achieve by hand. We have an Iris Scanner that shows you your exact stone slab in stunning detail before we fabricate anything. But that technology only matters because we have craftsmen who know what to do with it.
So that’s us. Old-school values, new-school tools, and a genuine commitment to doing right by our customers. We’re not the biggest fabricator around, and we’re okay with that. We’d rather be the one you trust.

What Makes Us Different
We could tell you we’re the best, the biggest, or the cheapest. None of that would be true, and honestly, it wouldn’t matter much anyway. Here’s what actually makes us different:
If we tell you we'll be there Tuesday at 9am, we'll be there Tuesday at 9am. If we say your project will take three weeks, it'll take three weeks. If we promise certain materials or quality, that's exactly what you'll get. This sounds basic, but you'd be surprised how rare it is. Our Amish upbringing taught us that your word matters, and we've never forgotten it.
Most fabricators can't show you your exact slab until installation day. We invested in Iris Scanner technology specifically so you don't have to guess. We scan your stone in stunning 21K resolution, you see every vein and color variation on screen, and we plan the layout together before we make a single cut. No surprises, no disappointments, no "that's not what I expected" moments.
Everything—templating, fabrication, installation—is done by our team. We don't hire out the installation to some crew we've never worked with. We don't outsource templating to the lowest bidder. The people you meet when you visit our shop are the same people who'll work in your home. That consistency matters.
We're not a franchise with a local address. We're not a regional company with a Montgomery location. We're actually from here. We live here, our kids go to school here, we shop at the same stores you do. When we say we care about our reputation, it's because we'll see you at the grocery store next week. That's real accountability.
We'll show you exactly what you're paying for and why. If something costs more, we explain why. If there's a way to save money, we'll tell you. If we see a potential issue, we bring it up immediately—not at the end when it's too late. Some customers find this level of transparency surprising. We find it normal.
This is going to sound like every fabricator's claim, but here's the difference: come to our shop and look at our stone inventory. Touch it, compare it to what you've seen elsewhere. We hand-select every slab, and we're picky about quality because our name goes on the finished work. If we wouldn't use it in our own homes, we won't sell it to you.
The Tools We Use (And Why They Matter)
We’re not a tech company—we’re stone fabricators. But we invested in specific technology because it genuinely helps us do better work and give you a better experience.
This thing is honestly pretty cool. It's a vertical scanner that captures your stone slab in 21K resolution—way more detail than a regular camera. We can show you your exact piece of stone on a big screen, zoom in to see specific veining, and plan exactly where each section will go in your kitchen.
Why this matters: Natural stone varies dramatically from slab to slab. What you see in the warehouse might look different when we unwrap it in our shop. The Iris Scanner eliminates that uncertainty. You approve what you're getting before we cut anything.
CNC stands for Computer Numerical Control, which basically means computer-guided cutting. We program in your measurements, and the machine cuts with precision that's impossible by hand—we're talking accuracy to tiny fractions of an inch.
Why this matters: Perfect cuts mean seams that virtually disappear, edges that feel exactly right, and counters that fit like they were meant to be there. It also means less wasted stone, which keeps costs down.
Technology is just tools. The Iris Scanner is worthless if we don't know how to use the images to plan optimal cuts. The CNC equipment is useless if we don't program it correctly or understand stone characteristics. That's where experience and craftsmanship come in.
We use technology to enhance what skilled hands can do, not replace them. Every piece still gets hand-finished. Every installation still requires experienced judgment. The machines help us be more accurate, but they don't make the decisions—we do.
